Andres Lopez is a Salvadoran-born painter and sculptor based in New England, Massachusetts. His work explores themes of identity, migration, resilience, and the enduring dialogue between past and present. Rooted in his experience as a first-generation immigrant, Lopez reimagines art history through a contemporary lens, creating works that honor both personal memory and collective experience.
Working across a wide range of materials—from traditional mediums such as oil paint, pastels, clay, and plaster to unconventional ones like recycled HDPE plastics, wire, and reclaimed wood—Lopez bridges craft and concept with poetic intent. His practice transforms everyday materials into vessels of meaning, reflecting stories of transformation, adaptation, and hope.
Through painting and sculpture, Lopez invites viewers to reflect on the human journey—its fragility, strength, and capacity for renewal. His art stands as both homage and reimagining: a dialogue between the world he left behind and the one he continues to build.
